Danceplace Digital Inc. was founded by Dariush Zomorrodi (Darius Zi) a serial entrepreneur with two parallel careers in tech ventures and arts.
Dariush has been a senior executive of several technology ventures. He built global teams, software products, and turned them into successful businesses on several occasions, including:
- CTO at Canpages.ca; Canada’s fastest-growing Internet company in 2010; sold to Yellow Media for $225M
- VP of Technology at Flexiti Financial: Canada’s leading fintech company; sold to Questrade
- CTO at Immersifind: Pioneer online directory SaaS company; sold to Dirxion
As an artist, Darius has a deep passion for the performing arts. He started as a semi-professional Salsa dancer and student of many other styles. He eventually became a Salsa professional and was invited to choreograph for and perform with Salsa Team Canada in 2009. Darius then continued his career, becoming a Brazilian Zouk dancer, teacher, actor, choreographer, event organizer and show producer. Highlights of his Brazilian Zouk work include:
- Founding, dZouk Productions in 2010: organizer of the “Canada Zouk Congress” dance event
- Producing and artistic directing 2014’s “See Inside Me” dance production (selected as a best of Ontario feature at the Para-PANAM Games in 2015)
- Producing, choreographing and artistic directing “Cirque du Zouk” from 2015-present
- Co-founding the Vision Dance Program: the first methodology developed to teach Brazilian Zouk partner dancing to blind and partially-sighted people in Canada and Brazil
- Co-founding the dZouk Brazilian Dance Centre in 2023: Toronto premier Brazilian dance school

Our Story
Our Journey
The Danceplace Directory was launched in December 2012 as a portal to offer a comprehensive and trusted information source to connect the dance community with service providers. In July 2014, Danceplace began featuring the Dancing Grapevine, a blog all about the social part of dancing. The same year, event ticketing and competition scoring software were piloted at one event. In August 2017, Danceplace Digital Inc. was established and the company began expanding the directory’s coverage and offerings, and began commercialization.
